Block Party: Know before you go!

The annual Caribbean Block Party is just one week away! Come out for music, food, rides and more from 2 to 10 p.m. Saturday, July 20 and noon to 7 p.m. Sunday, July 21 in Zabrocki Plaza, 17375 S. Oak Park Avenue. Here are a few things you should know before you go!
#1: There will be nine bands playing on two stages throughout the weekend.

Music lovers will get their fill at Block Party with nine bands, which will play throughout the weekend on two stages. Bands include:

Saturday, July 20

East Stage
Cadillac Groove (2 to 4 p.m.)
Ashley Brooks (5 to 7 p.m.)
Gold Dust Dreams (8 to 10 p.m.)

West Stage
The Reggae Express (3 to 6 p.m.)
Gone 2 Paradise (7 to 10 p.m.)

Sunday, July 21

East Stage
The Walk-Ins (noon to 3 p.m.)
One of These Nights (4 to 7 p.m.)

West Stage
Johnny Russler and the Beach Bum Band (1 to 4 p.m.)
ARRA (5 to 7 p.m.)

#2: A variety of food and beverages will be sold by some of the Village's most popular vendors.

Come hungry, because there will be plenty of food and beverage vendors throughout the weekend, including Ed & Joe's Restaurant, J.W. Hollstein's Saloon, Durbins of Tinley Park, Primal Cut Steakhouse, Kona Ice, Avocado Theory, the Scoop, Village Pizza, Ben's Soft Pretzels, Reina Del Pozole, Chick-fil-A, the Open Bottle and V.F.W. Post 2791.

#3: You can buy ride tickets at the Village Info Booth for $1 each.
 
Caribbean Block Party attendees will be able to enjoy a variety of fun rides and activities, including:

•    State Fair Super Slide
•    Pirates Revenge
•    Ballistic Swings
•    Tubs of Fun
•    Adrenaline Rush Bouncer
•    Tie-Dye Shirt Station

Rides are two tickets each, and crafts are five tickets each. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5 and are available at the Village Info Booth.

#4: Attendees can park for free at the 80th Avenue train station and take a free trolley to and from the event.

Due to the construction of Harmony Square Plaza, there will be limited Block Party parking on-site. Attendees are strongly encouraged to park for free at the 80th Avenue train station and then take a free trolley to the Caribbean Block Party.

Trolleys will run to and from the Kiss 'N' Ride at the 80th Avenue station,18001 S. 80th Ave., and the Oak Park Avenue station, 6700 South St.

Those who opt to park on-site can do so in the old Central Middle School lot, in the southeast lot at the Oak Park Avenue train station, along Hickory Street, and at Zion Church, Old National Bank, St. George School and Evon's Trophies & Awards. Handicap parking will be available in the southwest lot at the Oak Park Avenue train station.
 
#5: There will be bag checks at all Block Party entrances.

Visitors can expect bag checks at all entrances, and anyone age 17 and younger must be accompanied by an adult age 21 or older. Attendees are asked to please leave certain items at home such as large bags and coolers, pets, bicycles, and weapons. See the complete list at TinleyPark.org/BlockParty.
