Holiday Happenings returns Dec. 1

The Village's annual Holiday Happenings event is back and better than ever!
It'll all kick off with the Community Tree-Lighting Ceremony at 6:15 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1 in Zabrocki Plaza, 17375 S. Oak Park Ave. Join in as Village officials light the magnificent 35-foot community holiday tree. Be sure to arrive early for a sing-a-long to holiday music at 5:30 p.m.
Continue the fun at the Holiday Market, which will have new hours this year. Stop inside the cozy warmth of a heated tent from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1, 4 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, and 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3 in Zabrocki Plaza to shop for unique designs and creations while enjoying live music by local groups and entertainers. Children will have fun visiting Santa, writing letters to soldiers, meeting Rudolph and many other activities.
This year also will feature an animated Holiday Walk in Zabrocki Plaza that will get you right in the festive spirit! Bring your camera, because there will be plenty of opportunities to snap a few selfies as you go!
The fun will conclude with the annual Parade of Lights at 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3 along Oak Park Avenue from 175th Street to Subway. The parade will feature festive floats, vehicles, local businesses, community groups and school bands displaying the spirit of the season. A few very special guests from the North Pole will be making an appearance!
