Fun events round out Holiday Happenings

Posted: Nov. 28, 2022

Come celebrate the most wonderful time of the year when the Village’s annual Holiday Happenings returns this weekend from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday and noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in Zabrocki Plaza, 17375 S. Oak Park Avenue!

Start things off in style by singing along to holiday classics with authentic Victorian carolers at 5:30 p.m. Friday, followed by the Community Tree-Lighting Ceremony at 6:15 p.m.! Afterward, stop inside a large, heated tent to shop for presents at the Holiday Market, which will be open throughout the entire weekend.

The magical weekend continues with the arrival of Santa Claus during the Tinley Toyland Parade at 11:45 a.m. Saturday along Oak Park Avenue from 175th Street to Zabrocki Plaza. After the parade, Santa will be visiting with boys and girls in his cozy cottage, set up on the east end of the Holiday Market tent. Get your photos taken with the big guy himself on Saturday and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.!

New to the Holiday Walk this year is the Holiday Tree Project, a collection of 12 wooden trees decorated by local artists and painted with holiday imagery. A companion piece to the Village’s popular Benches on the Avenue and Musical chairs programs, the Holiday Tree Project is sure to be a regular gathering spot for those looking to soak in the spirit of the season!

Extend the holiday fun with the annual Elf in the Window contest. See the story elsewhere in this edition of the Community Email for more information.

See an interactive story map detailing all of the fun events going on this weekend for more information, or visit the Village website at TinleyPark.org/Holidays. We'll see you there!
