Work coming on Brementowne water mains

The Village is undertaking a major project in the Brementowne subdivision that includes replacing the existing water main, fire hydrants, valves and water services on 174th Street from Harlem Avenue to Odell Avenue; on 70th Avenue from 173rd Place to 174th Place; and on 76th Avenue from 164th Place to Nottingham Drive

Water service to homes located on 174th Street and 70th Avenue will be replaced from the existing water shut-off, located in the parkway, to the new water main. Work is under way and will be completed by Dec. 1. Residents’ water service may be interrupted and driveways in the work area may be blocked for short periods of time during this process.

Every effort will be made to notify affected residents at least a day before the scheduled work. Road closures will occur during the process to maintain traffic safety and minimize conflicts with construction activities. The contractor will restore access to each location at the end of each workday. Water service to Brementowne residents outside of the specified area may be affected due to water shutdowns necessary to complete the work.

As required by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency, the Village is providing an informational notice letting residents know the project may affect the lead content of their potable water supply if their residential water service line was installed prior to June 19, 1986.
