The Tinley Park Public Works Department plants parkway trees. After planting, homeowners are responsible for the trees, as well for as trimming trees that hang over sidewalks so branches don't interfere with pedestrians. The Public Works Department conducts its Tree Maintenance Program during the winter. Please call the office if you have a dead parkway tree.
Periodically, the Tinley Park Public Works Department trims low-hanging branches from parkway trees for safety reasons. This helps prevent broken mirrors, smashed windshields, and other hazards to vehicles that must travel along curbs, such as Post Office vehicles, street sweepers, emergency vehicles, and delivery trucks.
See the Tinley Park Code of Ordinances, Chapter 100 for more information on trees and shrubs in the Village.

Residents who would like a tree planted in their parkway (where a tree was either taken down or never planted) may call Public Works to be put on a list. ComEd Tree Maintenance in Utility Easements
ComEd is providing a seasonal reminder of its tree and vine management policy.
Storm Debris Disposal
- The customer is responsible for the disposal of branches, logs, or other debris associated with their trees damaged by storms, ice, winds, or other natural causes.
- ComEd is responsible for cutting, trimming or removing trees or branches that are causing service interruptions.
ComEd vegetation crews are unable to assist customers with the disposal of private tree debris, as it would impede crews’ ability to restore electric service to customers as quickly and as safely as possible. If the customer needs assistance with tree debris removal, they can visit TCIA.org to find local tree service companies that are accredited by the Tree Care Industry Association (TCIA). Please note, there may be a cost associated with this service.
ComEd Service Wire Policy
-
ComEd does not perform nonemergency tree trimming by the service wire.
-
If customers plan to trim near their service wire, they should contact ComEd to either drop or de-energize the service wire. After trimming is complete, they should contact ComEd to re-connect service. The customer will be without power until the service wire is re-connected. There is no charge for this service, if scheduled from 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.
-
Alternatively, ComEd qualified line clearance tree trimmers are able to provide clearance from the service wire to allow a private contractor to safely trim or remove the rest of the tree, if needed. There is a cost associated with this service.
-
For assistance, customers should call (800) 334-7661 and a ComEd representative will contact them as soon as possible to schedule the date and time of the service wire drop.
