The Citizens Police Academy is a 12-week program designed to provide residents with a comprehensive understanding of law enforcement and the Tinley Park Police Department. The next class will take place from 7 to 10 p.m. Thursdays from January 7, 2027 to March 25, 2027. This program is offered free of charge and is limited to 30 students per session. Applications are available in person only from 7 to 10 p.m. Mondays to Fridays through Thursday, Oct. 15 at the police department. Completed applications will be date-stamped by a police department clerk when returned.

To apply for the Citizens Police Academy, applicants must be at least 21 years of age and must reside or work within the Village of Tinley Park. All applicants will undergo a background check. Applications are available at the Tinley Park Police Department, 7850 W. 183rd St. Applicants should fill out and date the form. The application must be date-stamped by the clerk when it's returned.
