The Village and participating sponsors host an annual series of popular, family-friendly events that are enjoyed by residents and visitors alike. See below for more information. Irish ParadeIrish Parade 2020
When: 1 p.m.  |  Sunday, March 7, 2021
Where: Beginning at Central Middle School, 18146 S. Oak Park Avenue

Come out and enjoy this family-friendly event along Oak Park Avenue in Downtown Tinley! See floats, community groups, local schools and businesses. Enjoy delicious Irish fare and fun at the many Downtown Tinley restaurants.


Bunny Hop 2016Photos with the Bunny
When: Noon to 3 p.m.  |  April 2021
Where: Oak Park Avenue train station, 6700 South Street

This event is held the Sunday before Easter and features a visit from the Easter Bunny! Come out to have your photo taken with the big guy himself! Please bring your own camera.

Fire Department 5k'Run for Your Life' Safety 5K Run/Walk
When: 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.  |  May 2021
Where: 80th Avenue train station, 18001 S. 80th Avenue (north parking lot)

The Tinley Park Fire Department holds the “Run for Your Life Safety” 5K Run/Walk every year to benefit the Illinois Fire Safety Alliance’s Camp I Am Me, a camp for children ages 8 to 16 who are burn survivors. The event also includes the 1K Kid’s Dash and a food drive supporting Together We Cope.

Memorial Day CeremonyMIA Flag

Where: Gen. Patrick E. Rea Veterans Plaza

The Village of Tinley Park and the Tinley Park Veterans Commission host the annual Memorial Day Ceremony at the Gen. Patrick E. Rea Veterans Plaza each May. Events include patriotic music, short speeches, a wreath-laying ceremony and a gun salute.

Benches on the AvenueRoswell Bench

Where: Along Oak Park Avenue from 172nd to 176th streets

The Village hosts its Benches on the Avenue public art program each year along Oak Park Avenue from 172nd to 176th streets. The program, which features benches created by amateur and professional artists, has become one of the Village's most popular attractions. For more information, please visit Benches on the Avenue.

Farmers MarketFarmers Market 2020
When: Saturdays  |  8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.  |  2021
Where: Zabrocki Plaza, 17375 S. Oak Park Avenue

Visit the Downtown Tinley Farmers Market from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturdays from June to October every year in Zabrocki Plaza for the best selection of fruits, vegetables and fresh flowers! For information on how to become a vendor, email tpfarmersmarket@aol.com.

Cruise NightsCruise Nights 2020 by Graesen Arnoff

Where: Along Oak Park Avenue from 171st Street and 173rd Place

Are you a classic car or hot rod owner or fan? Show them off or just view them on Tuesdays during the summer months in Downtown Tinley! Each year, the Chicago White Sox offer specially priced tickets to Tinley Park residents and their families to see a home game at Guaranteed Rate Field in Chicago. Tickets will be available at www.WhiteSox.com/TinleyPark.

Boy SurferDowntown Tinley Block Party

Where: Along Oak Park Avenue from 171st to Hickory streets

The Village's annual Block Party takes place the third Sunday in July along Oak Park Avenue from 171st to Hickory streets. The event features food and free family fun such as a bean bag tournament, rides and inflatables, KidZone activities, and live music on two stages and more! Please keep in mind that the Block Party is not a pet-friendly event.

National Night OutNational Night Out
When:

Where: 80th Avenue metra lot north of Freedom Park

Join the Tinley Park Police Department at this annual, award-winning event every August. Attendees can meet and greet members of Tinley Park’s Police Department, Fire Department, Emergency Management Agency and Public Works Department, as well as view the many Village-owned vehicles on display. Other activities include family entertainment and booths from local businesses.

Fire Dept Open HouseFire Prevention Open House
When:
9 a.m. to 1 p.m.  |  October 2021
Where: Fire Station No. 46, 17355 S. 68th Court

Each year, the Tinley Park Fire Department and the nationally accredited Tinley Park Fire Prevention Bureau highlight fire prevention education, culminating in the Fire Prevention Week Open House at Fire Station No. 46. The open house features a Fire Department 101, fire safety drills, the Junior Firefighter Challenge and CPR training.

Boo Bash 2020Downtown Tinley Boo Bash

Where: Oak Park Avenue train station, 6700 South Street

The annual Boo Bash is great fun for families with young children. Activities include trick-or-treating through business booths, DJ entertainment, a costume contest and much more! Food and beverages will be sold. Watch a video of the 2020 Boo Bash on the Village's YouTube channel.

Veterans DayVeterans Day Ceremony

Where: Virtual Event

The Village of Tinley Park and the Tinley Park Veterans Commission host the annual Veterans Day Ceremony every November at the Gen. Patrick E. Rea Veterans Plaza. Honor the men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice and those who were willing to in service of the United States. The ceremony includes patriotic music, short speeches and a gun salute. NOTE: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this event will be held virtually in 2020. Please visit the Village's Facebook page on the date and time of the event to watch a live stream of the program.

Mayor Tree-LightingHoliday Happenings

Where: Downtown Tinley

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, some past Village events such as the Holiday Market, the Parade of Lights, the ice-carving demonstration and Photos with Santa have been cancelled. The Village still has plenty of fun holiday activities planned, however, including a virtual Tree Lighting Ceremony, an Elf in the Window scavenger hunt contest and several holiday donation drives.
