The Village and participating sponsors host an annual series of popular, family-friendly events that are enjoyed by residents and visitors alike. Irish Parade

When: 1 p.m.  |  March 2022
Where: Central Middle School, 18146 S. Oak Park Avenue
Come out and enjoy this family-friendly event along Oak Park Avenue in Downtown Tinley! See floats, community groups, local schools and businesses. Enjoy delicious Irish fare and fun at the many Downtown Tinley restaurants. Check out the Village’s brand-new Luck of the Irish Virtual Map to see all the great Irish specials being offered throughout March! PLEASE NOTE: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2021 Irish Parade has been cancelled.

Photos with the Bunny

When: Noon to 3 p.m.  |  April 2022
Where: Oak Park Avenue train station, 6700 South Street
This event is held the Sunday before Easter and features a visit from the Easter Bunny! Come out to have your photo taken with the big guy himself! Please bring your own camera.

Fire Safety 5K

When: 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.  |  May 2022
Where: 80th Avenue train station, 18001 S. 80th Avenue (north parking lot)
The Tinley Park Fire Department holds the “Run for Your Life Safety” 5K Run/Walk every year to benefit the Illinois Fire Safety Alliance’s Camp I Am Me, a camp for children ages 8 to 16 who are burn survivors. The event also includes the 1K Kid’s Dash and a food drive supporting Together We Cope. PLEASE NOTE: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2021 "Run for Your Life" 5K has been cancelled.

Memorial Day Ceremony

Where: Gen. Patrick E. Rea Veterans Plaza
The Village of Tinley Park and the Tinley Park Veterans Commission host the annual Memorial Day Ceremony at the Gen. Patrick E. Rea Veterans Plaza each May. Events include patriotic music, short speeches, a wreath-laying ceremony and a gun salute.

Benches on the Avenue

Where: Along Oak Park Avenue from 172nd to 176th streets
The Village hosts its Benches on the Avenue public art program each year along Oak Park Avenue from 172nd to 176th streets. The program, which features benches created by amateur and professional artists, has become one of the Village's most popular attractions. Farmers Market

Downtown Tinley Block Party

Where: Along Oak Park Avenue from 171st to Hickory streets
The Village's annual Block Party takes place the third Sunday in July along Oak Park Avenue from 171st to Hickory streets. The event features food and free family fun such as a bean bag tournament, rides and inflatables, KidZone activities, and live music on two stages and more! Please keep in mind that the Block Party is not a pet-friendly event.

National Night Out

Where: 80th Avenue metra lot north of Freedom Park
Join the Tinley Park Police Department at this annual, award-winning event every August. Attendees can meet and greet members of Tinley Park’s Police Department, Fire Department, Emergency Management Agency and Public Works Department, as well as view the many Village-owned vehicles on display. Other activities include family entertainment and booths from local businesses.

Fire Prevention Open House

When: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.  |  October 2021
Where: Fire Station No. 46, 17355 S. 68th Court
Each year, the Tinley Park Fire Department and the nationally accredited Tinley Park Fire Prevention Bureau highlight fire prevention education, culminating in the Fire Prevention Week Open House at Fire Station No. 46. The open house features a Fire Department 101, fire safety drills, the Junior Firefighter Challenge and CPR training.

Downtown Tinley Boo Bash

Where: Oak Park Avenue train station, 6700 South Street
The annual Boo Bash is great fun for families with young children. Activities include trick-or-treating through business booths, DJ entertainment, a costume contest and much more! Food and beverages will be sold. Watch a video of the 2020 Boo Bash on the Village's YouTube channel.

Veterans Day Ceremony

Where: Gen. Patrick E. Rea Veterans Plaza
The Village of Tinley Park and the Tinley Park Veterans Commission host the annual Veterans Day Ceremony every November at the Gen. Patrick E. Rea Veterans Plaza. Honor the men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice and those who were willing to in service of the United States. The ceremony includes patriotic music, short speeches and a gun salute.

Holiday Market

When: Saturday, Dec. 3 to Sunday, Dec. 5, 2021
Where: Oak Park Avenue train station, 6700 South Street
Stroll into the cozy warmth of a large, heated tent and shop for unique handmade crafts and creations. Enjoy tasty treats and live music by local groups and entertainers. Children will have fun making holiday crafts, writing letters for the soldiers and cookie decorating. Businesses have a chance to sell gift cards and products during the Holiday Market while promoting their business to thousands.

Community Tree-Lighting Ceremony

Village officials will light the magnificent 35-foot community holiday tree. Arrive early for a sing-a-long to holiday music at 5:30 p.m. Dress warmly!

Tinley Toyland Parade

When: December 2021
Where: 175th Street to Zabrocki Plaza
The Tinley Toyland Parade celebrates the official arrival of Santa and Mrs. Claus, who will visit the Oak Park Avenue train station immediately following the conclusion of the parade. Children are encouraged to bring an unwrapped gift for persons of any age, to be donated to a local charity. A collection center will be located near the Holiday Market.

Parade of Lights

When: December 2021
Where: Viewing area at 177th Street along Oak Park Avenue
The Parade of Lights will march north down Oak Park Avenue from 177th Street to the Subway parking lot. The parade includes festive floats, vehicles, local businesses, community groups and school bands displaying the spirit of the season. A few very special guests from the North Pole will be making an appearance!

More Holiday Happenings

When: December 2021
Where: Downtown Tinley
Other holiday events include old-fashioned carriage rides through historic downtown Tinley Park, an ice carving demonstration at Zabrocki Plaza, carousel rides at the Oak Park Avenue station, holiday activities at Old Zion Landmark Church, photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus inside the train station and S'mores by a campfire.
