The Village has Electronic Vehicle (EV) charging systems in Downtown Tinley and at the Tinley Park Convention Center. Users can plug in their EV and pay with the EV Connect app.

An Electric Vehicle (EV) charger is a device used to safely supply electricity to charge the battery of a plug-in electric vehicle.

The municipal-owned EV chargers are Level 2 chargers. For more information on charger types and speeds, refer to the U.S. Department of Transportation’s website.

There will be 16 chargers in Downtown Tinley, at the Tinley Park Convention Center, and at Village Hall. Currently there are six chargers installed in Downtown Tinley. Below is a map of the approximate location of some of the chargers in Downtown Tinley:

The chargers use EV Connect for users to pay for charging. You can download the EV Connect App for iPhones or for Android.
Yes, the Village of Tinley Park owns these chargers.
The rate for the chargers is $0.40 per kilowatt hour for the first three hours, and then a $5 fee is applied for each additional hour after that.
Users can have their vehicle plugged in for as many as three hours. After the first three hours, the user will be charged $5 per hour.

If a vehicle is parked in a spot designated for EV charging and is either not an electric vehicle and/or not plugged into the EV charger, then any person convicted of violating shall be given a fine of no less than $25 and not to exceed $750. Please see the Tinley Park Code of Ordinances for more information about the rules and regulations of the EV chargers.

No! If you are charging your vehicle in a commuter parking lot, you do not need to pay for other parking. However, if you move your vehicle from the EV charger spot to another spot in the commuter lot, then you will need to pay for parking.
