Village hosts annual Business Breakfast
More than 200 area business executives and leaders attended the Village’s annual Business Breakfast on May 9 at the Tinley Park Convention Center.
Economic and Commercial Commission Chairman Jay Walsh opened the morning’s events by presenting longevity awards to 23 Tinley Park businesses that have been in existence for as many as 90 years.
Village Manager Dave Niemeyer followed with a brief economic development report that included information on population projections, home value and income growth, the Village’s labor force and employment, as well as a section on vacancy rates for retail, office and industrial properties in Tinley Park.
Niemeyer yielded the floor to Mayor Jacob Vandenberg, who presented a State of the Village report that covered the New Bremen TIF district, the Downtown Tinley Playbook, the former Tinley Park Mental Health Center property and the Tinley Park Convention Center, among other topics.
Mark Peterson from Intersect Illinois finished the morning with a presentation on how the State of Illinois is fairing overall and how it's helping support the Village’s economic development efforts.
A video of the entire Business Breakfast is now playing on the Village’s YouTube channel.
