Oak Forest man charged in fatal Tinley Park traffic crash

Tinley Park police on Wednesday charged a 37-year-old Oak Forest man with reckless homicide and aggravated DUI-accident/death after a fatal car crash early Tuesday morning in the 17200 block of Oak Park Avenue. 

Police said Joseph M. Vorberg, 15330 Arroyo Drive, was driving northbound on Oak Park Avenue at about 3:30 a.m. Tuesday when he ran into a parked car, killing a 20-year-old Midlothian man who was a passenger in the struck vehicle. Vorberg and the driver of the parked vehicle were transported to area hospitals with injuries that were not life-threatening.

Vorberg also was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, failing to give aid/information at an accident, improper lane usage and failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident, police said.

Vorberg is scheduled to appear in bond court at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Bridgeview Court House.
