Police announce coloring contest winners

The Tinley Park Police Department recently announced the winners of its annual coloring contest for kids. Winners included:

• Alayna Kucher (kindergarten)
• Molly Castle (first grade)
• Levin Jager (second grade)
• Rento Asai (third grade) - submission pictured at right
• Lindsey Gerhardstein (fourth grade)
• Abigail Zurek (fifth grade)

The theme of this year's contest was, "Be a Friend ... Not a Bully" and featured a dog named Ricochet giving a cat a high-five.

Each of the six winners will receive a ride to school in a police vehicle during the first week of school. Winners also received a Tinley Park bag with a bookmark and a copy of “Ricochet: Riding a Wave of Hope with the Dog Who Inspires Millions” courtesy of the author Judy Fridono, who owns the real-life Ricochet. The bag also contained pencils, an eraser and a coloring book

The contest was open to children in kindergarten through fifth grade who will attend school in Tinley Park during the 2017-18 school year, including private schools and those Tinley Park students who will attend Fierke, Rogus and Hilda Walker schools.
