Village wins 25th consecutive financial reporting award

The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) recently awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to the Village of Tinley Park for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR), also known as the audit report. This is the 25th consecutive year the Village has won the award.

The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.

“This award is something to be proud of and is exemplary of the fine work of Village staff,” Tinley Park Mayor Dave Seaman said. “Congratulations to Brad Bettenhausen and the entire Finance Department.”

The CAFR has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive “sprit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.

The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association servicing approximately 17,500 government finance professionals with offices in Chicago and Washington, D.C.
