Village challenges DOJ lawsuit

The Village of Tinley Park authorized Village attorneys to challenge the actions of the U.S. Department of Justice, which alleges the Village violated the Fair Housing Act through its actions with respect to the proposed 47-unit multifamily residential building known as “The Reserve.”

“Village attorneys are diligently preparing to defend the Village and have made a tremendous effort thus far,” Tinley Park Mayor Dave Seaman said. “The Village Board and I will provide aggressive leadership on this matter on behalf of all the citizens of Tinley Park.”

The Village moved this week to dismiss the complaint, citing the U.S. government’s lack of standing in the matter. The Village is actively monitoring the matter and will continue to work with Village counsel.
